Walking on Ice
We live close to a park that includes a river running through it and we often take walks through this park. We have never walked through the park in the winter time so we thought yesterday was perfect to accomplish this task. The river was mostly frozen over other than a few spots here and there and must have been 4-5 inches in thickness. I, being the boy in the family decided that it would be fun and most wise for us to play on the ice. While we were walking/playing on the the ice I decided to be a "little boy" for a moment and test the ice. I decided to stomp, jump and break the ice as a fun game. Well I knew sooner or later that the ice would break and I would fall in. And it came to pass, I pushed my luck and one foot fell in through the ice and I was stuck with a wet boot the rest of the afternoon. As I am pulling my foot out of the ice, my wife is laughing at me uncontrollably and my little two year old is worried and scared to death as her dad is in the water. We all had a good laugh and a great time. As I get older I get more boring and the ice created an opportunity to take a break from the boring and be venturesome. I encourage each of us to have a little fun every once in a while.
